DMCA & takedowns

We respect other people’s work and expect the same for ours. If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, here is exactly how to tell us — and what happens next.

Our position

Your Girl Style publishes styling guides that include photography. Images are licensed, supplied by brands, created by us, or credited to their original source. We take copyright seriously and act quickly on valid complaints.

If your work appears here and you would rather it did not, you do not need a lawyer to get our attention. A clear email is enough to start the process.

Put “DMCA notice” or “Copyright” in the subject line so it is not missed.

What your notice needs to include

To act on a complaint we need enough information to identify both the work and the page. Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, a valid notice contains the following six things:

  • Your signature. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or someone authorised to act for them.
  • The work. Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed — a link to the original, or a copy of it.
  • The location. The exact URL on this site where the material appears, specific enough for us to find it. “Somewhere on your blog” is not enough.
  • Your contact details. Name, email address, and a postal address or phone number if you have one.
  • A good-faith statement. A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement of accuracy. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.

A notice missing these details may take longer to process because we will have to come back to you for them.

What happens after you send it

  • We aim to acknowledge every notice within a few business days.
  • If the complaint is clearly valid, the material is removed or replaced promptly — often before any further correspondence.
  • If the position is unclear, we will contact you to understand it before acting.
  • Where the material was supplied by a contributor, we will notify them that it has been removed.

If you think we removed something wrongly

If your material was taken down and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same address. It should include your signature and contact details, identification of the material and where it appeared before removal, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.

Repeat infringers

Accounts or contributors who repeatedly infringe copyright will have their access and contributions removed.

Using our content

This works both ways. Our articles, photography and layout are protected too. Short quotes with clear credit and a link back are welcome; republishing a full article, or using our content to train AI models, is not permitted without written permission. The details are in our terms of service.

If you would like to use something, just ask at support@yourgirlstyle.com. We usually say yes when credit is included.

Filing in bad faith

Please be sure before you send a notice. Knowingly making a material misrepresentation that content is infringing can carry legal liability for damages and costs under section 512(f) of the DMCA.
