Women’s Jeans Size Chart: US, UK, EU and Waist Size

Turn your US jeans size into a waist number, UK and EU size in one click, with a full women’s jeans size chart, inseam guide and measuring tips.

Jeans sizes are confusing because there are two systems. Some brands use dress sizes like 4, 6 and 8. Others use your waist in inches, like 27, 28 and 29. And European and UK labels use different numbers again.

How to measure for jeans

Use a soft tape measure and stand relaxed.

  1. Waist: measure around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button.
  2. Hips: measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, with your feet together.
  3. Inseam: measure a pair of jeans that fit you well, from the crotch seam down to the hem.

Inseam and rise

LengthInseam
PetiteAbout 28 in
Regular30 to 32 in
TallAbout 34 in

The rise is the distance from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband. Low-rise jeans sit on the hips, mid-rise jeans sit just below the belly button, and high-rise jeans sit at or above it.

Why your size changes from brand to brand

Jeans sizing varies more between labels than almost any other clothing. Stretch denim, the cut and the rise all change how a size fits. Always check the brand’s own chart against your waist and hip measurements. If you are between two sizes, buy the one that fits your hips, because a waist is easy to take in.

A regular inseam is usually 30 to 32 inches. Petite is about 28 inches and tall is about 34 inches.
